Compostable and biodegradable, our plant-based materials return to earth at the end of their use.

Closing the Loop

Solinatra is compostable and biodegradable, and fully degrades in both home and industrial composting without leaving behind any microplastics or harmful pollutants.

Products made of Solinatra can easily be incorporated with food waste in kerbside collections for industrial or municipal composting facilities. This simplifies waste disposal for both consumers and food businesses, ensuring organic waste is efficiently managed. Rigorous testing in industrial composting and anaerobic digestion facilities has confirmed that products made of Solinatra fully decompose within the standard 40-day composting period without leaving any microplastics or pollutants behind.

For home use, Solinatra can be disposed of in various composting systems, such as garden composters, bokashi, or vermicomposting. While degradation speed rates may vary depending on factors like thickness and weight, products made of Solinatra are both compostable and biodegradable.

Solinatra coffee capsules obtained compostability certification from TÜV Austria and have been awarded “OK compost Industrial” by TÜV Austria for Nespresso-compatible coffee capsules. Coffee capsules made of Solinatra degrade as quickly as banana peels, leaving behind only water, CO2, and biomass.

When exposed to marine environments, products made of Solinatra, such as mangrove pots, will gradually degrade in a few months. Solinatra is made from 100% natural ingredients, making our products entirely zero-microplastic and not polluting the ocean in any way. The truly sustainable composition of Solinatra products offers a solution that harmonises with nature and contributes to a circular economy.

Composting is also known as organic recycling; returning resources to back to nature to grow the next cycle of plants. Solinatra promotes a circular economy, embracing closed loops to reduce the impact on natural resources.

Certified Compostable

Environmental label indicating that composting is okay, with three downward arrows, a flower, and the text 'OK compost'; a logo for TÜV Austria; and industrial classification S2724.

In a commercial composting setting, capsules degrade within a few weeks - and in home composting, capsules fully degrade within the same time frame as a banana peel!

After use, the whole capsule can be disposed of in a home compost bin or with a kerbside collection for commercial composting. There’s no need to take off the lid, or clean out the coffee grinds - making it easy to compost correctly.

Solinatra coffee capsules have been awarded “OK compost Industrial” by TÜV Austria.
