Solinatra Leads the Way Towards a Cleaner Future at Hannover Messe 2024

This week in the bustling halls of the Hannover Messe 2024, where industry meets innovation, we’ve been exhibiting our truly sustainable alternative to single use plastic to a global audience of changemakers.

One of Solinatra's values is collaboration—collaboration across industries, sectors, and borders. Recognising that the transition to sustainable, compostable materials requires collective effort, Solinatra has been actively engaging with key stakeholders, including governments and industry leaders, to drive change on a global scale.

This year, Solinatra had the chance to participate in both the Indonesian Pavilion and the Dutch Pavilion. On the Dutch Pavilion, Solinatra had the honour of introducing our sustainable solutions to representatives of the Dutch government, including Micky Adriaansens, Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy; Jacqueline Vaessen, Chair of TopSector Chemie; and Marc Hendrikse, Chair of TopSector High Tech Systems and Materials.

On the Indonesian Pavilion, a significant milestone was reached as the Solinatra-ATMI IGI Center of Excellence, in collaboration with Otorita Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), signed a Letter of Interest (LoI) to create a plastic-free city in Indonesia's new capital city, Nusantara.

This ambitious initiative underscores Solinatra's commitment to leveraging sustainable materials to build healthy, thriving communities. Roland Pluut, Chairman of the Board of Solinatra, expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration, emphasising its potential to transform the urban landscape and set a foundation for sustainable development in the region.

"This is an extraordinary project," remarked Roland Pluut. "This collaboration shows the world that by incorporating sustainable materials, to make the transition away from polluting plastics to natural biodegradable material, it is possible to build healthy cities and lay the foundation for people to live happily."

“Our purpose is to innovate for a world without plastic waste and develop materials for a brighter future. By collaborating with these projects, we can make our vision a reality.”

In addition to the LoI, Solinatra and ATMI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Hannover Messe, renewing their commitment to the Center of Excellence which was established at the 2023 Hannover Messe. The MoU asserts that the two parties will continue to develop the educational facilities of the Center of Excellence and develop new opportunities for manufacturing of materials for injection moulding and forthcoming extrusion grades of material.

Further to our commitments for global cooperation, Solinatra also engaged in meaningful discussions for change. Account Manager Birsel Cimen joined a panel to discuss the role of women in an industry traditionally dominated by men, and her unique perspective in navigating the manufacturing landscape. As the UN Sustainable Development Goals make clear, environmental and social justice are inextricably linked – and we are proud to be working to make the future better for both people and planet.

The 26th April is “King’s Day” in the Netherlands, a national holiday typically celebrated with fun and games – and the Dutch Pavilion is no exception! On the final day of the Hannover Messe, the participants of the pavilion are all hosting games to play for the visitors to the fair. On the Solinatra exhibition, visitors can play a twist on the traditional ezeltje prikje– while learning the best way to dispose of compostable products!

Solinatra's presence at the Hannover Messe 2024 serves as a truly sustainable solution in a world fighting with environmental challenges. Our innovative materials offer not just an alternative to plastic but a pathway to a more sustainable future—one where waste is minimised, resources are preserved, and communities thrive in harmony with nature.

The time for action is now, and together, we can build a greener, cleaner world for generations to come.
