Planting for the Planet, Without Plastic
In Madagascar’s mangrove forests, Solinatra and Evertreen are reforesting coastlines with solinatra 100% natural and compostable mangrove pots.
Solinatra Mangrove Pots: Planting Without Plastic
Our mangrove seedlings grow in pots made from 100% natural materials, crafted from Solinatra’s universal food-based sources. Unlike conventional plastic pots that leave behind microplastics, our pots are designed to return safely to nature.
Fully compostable, even in the ocean: if they end up in marine environments, they break down into water, CO₂, and biomass — leaving nothing harmful behind.
Circular by design: the pots enrich the soil and marine environment instead of polluting it, supporting both the seedling and the ecosystem around it.
Truly sustainable: this is reforestation done right — helping communities restore coastlines while ensuring no plastic waste enters the process.

Why Mangroves Matter
Mangroves are unique coastal forests that thrive in brackish and saline water, at the interface of land and sea.
UNEP - UN Environment Programme+1
Though they occupy less than 1% of tropical forest area, mangroves deliver outsized value in terms of ecosystem services — they guard shorelines, support fisheries, filter water, and sequester carbon.
UNEP - UN Environment Programme+2oceans-alive.org+2
They are among the most carbon-dense forests: per hectare, they can store 3–4× more carbon than many terrestrial forests.
Mangroves act as natural buffers: reducing wave energy, stabilizing sediments, protecting against storms and erosion.
They’re also biodiversity hotspots: nursery grounds for fish, shrimp, crabs; habitat for many species.
Why Madagascar
The region: Madagascar is one of the world’s biodiversity treasures, but also one of the most deforested countries. Its mangroves are vital for coastal resilience, storm protection, fisheries, and carbon storage.
The urgency: Madagascar has lost over 20% of its mangroves in the last 20 years. Restoring them is critical for climate, livelihoods, and food security.
The local impact: Inspired by stories like Maman’i Taba, a farmer and community leader who plants seedlings daily in Mahajanga, this project is about more than trees — it’s about restoring ecosystems and empowering communities
